The Rectal Pacifier is a single pole tubular electrode constructed of a conductive silicone elastomer, 7 mm thickness and about 100 mm in length.
The electrode has a hollow design, allowing it to collapse for easy insertion into the rectal passage. Once inserted the Pacifier then expands to allow the surface tissues of the inner sphincter to create a tight seal for proper inner sphincter muscle stimulation. The removable ring on the Rectal Pacifier is designed to sit comfortably against the outer sphincter muscle, allowing for stimulation of the outer sphincter muscles when the Pacifier is inserted.
The Pacifier can be used with or without the removable sphincter ring allowing for greater versatility in the use of this electrode. Removing the ring also makes the cleaning process much easier.
Please note that the single pole Rectal Pacifier requires a second electrode in order to function. To connect this device to a stimulation current unit we recommend the Electrode Cable Snap (item no. 49007), our Adaptor 25 (item no. 49008) or Low Profile Leads (item no. 49029).
